WHAT THE F*CK IS HEART DECO? WHAT DOES THE BK STAND FOR? BURGER KING?
Heart Deco was born from the absolute chaos of 2020-2021. I (Jess) started making earrings and doodling on my iPad in 2020 when I was stuck at home. I've always been doing art shit, but I feel like I only came into my own style recently thanks to the trauma that was the past two years and probably some psychedelics. OH, and BK just stands for Brooklyn, because that's where this all began.
WHO IS JESS?
HEY, I'm some random lesbian from Staten Island, now living in Brooklyn. I have a degree in Set Design for Theater, but I'm retired from that and currently working as a manager at Sarajo, and antique textile gallery/store in SoHo. By night I'm the cult leader behind HDBK and a low key event organizer. My goal is always to support other small businesses/artists, and create spaces for my fellow queers. IS EVERYTHING HANDMADE?
YES!!!!! But, like, I guess it depends what you mean by *handmade* because I don't make the blanks, I just spice them up with the embroidery machine. But it is A LOT more work than I thought it would be, so it's truly made with love. Some prints and totes are made and sent out by Printful. All jewelry is handmade by me!
WHAT ARE THE EARRINGS MADE OF?
My earrings are made from polymer clay- mostly Sculpey. It’s pretty much a plastic that you sculpt/cut shapes out of, and then bake it to harden. It’s super lightweight, durable, and cute! With most of my earrings, you won’t even feel them. I always think mine fell off because they’re so light. But, I’m also used to always wearing crazy earrings, so who knows if everyone else feels the same.
The hardware/metal stuff on my jewelry is all hypoallergenic, aka nickel free. I’ve worn my earrings for over 12 hours and have never had an issue with the metals. But I wouldn’t recommend wearing my earrings on a piercing that isn’t completely healed!!! Please let your holes chill for at least 6 months-1 year (or however long a professional piercer tells you) before sticking a Heart Deco earring in there.
WHAT IF THE EARRINGS BREAK? :(
Ah, yes. While I try my best to make my earrings super duper durable, things happen. The backs can come off, your dog can think they’re a chew toy, or you accidentally sit/step on it. It happens. I’ve been there.
Please email me at heartdecobk@gmail.com with pictures of the damage so I can see if its fixable. If it is, I will send you a pre-paid label to stick on a box/envelope to send back to me and I’ll work my magic. If its not, I will 100% give you a new pair of earrings, on the house. I want everyone to be happy with their earrings and feel like a fierce bitch!!!!

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY ORDER?
It takes me (Jess ) about 7-10 days to process your order. This includes packaging, adding some finishing touches, labeling, and dropping it off to the post office. I also try and wait until I have like, 5 orders to fill, so I can just make one trip! Shipping can take anywhere from 3 days to a week. So expect to get your order within 2 weeks of ordering!!! Hopefully less xoxo
As for the other artists selling their work, they also take the same amount of time. Just keep in mind that if you order things from multiple artists, they will come in separate packages!
